Classes

Your investment

Terms are five weeks long. You attend one 3-hour class per week for 5 weeks of that term. For more details please refer to the class schedule below. Classes are $450. Fees include tuition and the use of tools. Classes which use a model include the model in the fees. Materials are not included. Payment must be made before the term start.

Class size

Classes are small to ensure personal attention is given to you. We have a maximum of 10 students in a class.

Student skill level

We have students of differing skill levels in the room together, all receiving the assistance that they require from the teacher. In addition, special beginner or advanced workshops are held throughout the year.

Models

We work with professional artist models with a great deal of experience. Poses are mostly selected in consultation with the model, so both students and our model have input.

Age restriction

If you are under 18 years old, you will need to be interviewed and have parental approval.

Special workshops

Throughout the year we run special workshops featuring guest sculptors or using a variety of different materials. The dates will be posted on our website.

Introduction to Sculpture Techniques. For beginners or those with limited experience. The workshop teaches fundamental sculpting techniques, basics of armatures and instruction on modelling a 3D form using the profiling method. This workshop is designed to provide you with practical skills for creating a sculpture and the confidence to continue with sculpting at home or in a class situation.

Advanced Studies. For those with more experience, we have various workshops using artist’s models including intensive life study and portraiture over two to five day periods.

Mould making. Takes you through the process of making a silicone rubber mould of your sculpture.

Introduction to Bronze Casting. Allows you to take one of your sculptures step by step through the bronze process. (Currently unavailable, though there is scope to see your piece at various stages of the bronze process)

Miscellaneous workshops and demonstrations. Various workshops and demonstrations will be available such as drawing, exploring different sculpting mediums, carving, relief sculpture, head studies, armatures etc. Guest sculptors also run workshops and do demonstrations. The workshops cater for beginners through to advanced sculptors and will be specified.
