Teachers

Learn with leading professionals

The teachers at the Sydney Sculpture School are not only excellent teachers but gifted sculptors themselves.

Some sculptors and schools focus on one type of methodology, system or technique. Whilst specialisation may be positive in some respects, we believe that it is important to have an open mind and to look at all forms of sculpture and associated processes. As such, we use different materials, encourage students to create their visions and not just copy existing works, use live models and bring in experts in their respective fields.

Each person has their style whether they know it or not. Each person also has their strengths and weaknesses. Our aim is not to create clones of our teachers but to help you develop your style and to help you build on your strengths and weaknesses.

Jody Pawley

Jody Pawley was drawn to sculpture from an early age. Although adept at different forms of sculpting, an inbuilt desire to learn how to mould and cast led to specialising in bronze work. Apart from pursuing his own interests in experimenting with both figurative and abstract work, Jody also undertakes commissioned sculpting work, specialising in portraiture.

Jody has carried out private and public commissions including Concord RSL Memorial, Northern District Miners Memorial, Religious Icons, numerous portraits of both private and public figures and portraits of animals.
